New York Law School faculty are dedicated educators and renowned experts in their respective fields. Their scholarship and professional achievements advance the rule of law and legal educational excellence in New York, across the nation, and around the world. These items represent a sample of the activities of NYLS’s full-time, adjunct, and emeritus faculty.
Associate Dean for Upper Level Writing Heidi K. Brown received a LWI Distinguished Service Award for her service as 2024 Sponsorship Chair at the Legal Writing Institute Biennial Conference.
Dean and President Anthony W. Crowell was named a “2024 Power Player in Education” by Politics NY.
Professors from Practice Shahrokh Falati ’08 and Michael Pastor were appointed the new Co-Directors of NYLS’s Innovation Center for Law and Technology.
Associate Professor Molly Guptill Manning was invited to curate a new exhibit based on her book The Best-Read Army in the World, which is on display at Rancho Mirage Library and Observatory in California through March 2025.
Associate Professor Justin Murray was invited to become a Contributing Editor for CrimProf Blog, a leading online resource for new scholarship, current events, and academic conversations in the fields of criminal law and procedure.
Assistant Dean for Coaching and Advising for Graduating Students Swati Parikh was named to City & State New York’s 2024 “The Responsible 100 Alumni” list.
Joseph Solomon Distinguished Professor Rebecca Roiphe was named a Segal Center for Academic Pluralism Research Fellow at Heterodox Academy, an organization that advances open inquiry, viewpoint diversity, and constructive disagreement across higher education.
Professor Ross Sandler was appointed the inaugural Samuel Seabury Professor of Law at NYLS.
Dean for Advocacy and Co-Curricular Programs Lynn Boepple Su has been appointed to serve on the board of the Mindfulness in Law Society (MILS), an international organization dedicated to enhancing wellbeing in the legal profession. She was also appointed to a three-year term on the executive committee for the Association of American Law Schools (AALS) Section on Balance and Well-Being in Legal Education and appointed to the advisory board for the Resilience and Engagement Project at University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
Ernst C. Stiefel Professor of Comparative Law Ruti G. Teitel has been appointed by Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Israel as a Distinguished Fellow in recognition of her work on Transitional Justice and Human Rights.
Assistant Professor Claire R. Thomas ’11 was named a co-topic editor in the peer-edited journal Frontiers in Human Dynamics, Dynamics of Migration and (Im)mobility, published through Frontiers.
Associate Professor Britney Wilson is the incoming Secretary for the AALS Section on Disability Law for 2025–2026.

Professor from Practice Shahrokh Falati ’08 was a panelist at the National Science Foundation conference “Supporting Undergraduate Institutions in Technology and Entrepreneurship Development (SUITED),” providing intellectual property insight to STEM faculty and entrepreneurs.
Associate Professor Molly Guptill Manning served as the keynote speaker at the George Marshall Foundation's annual meeting at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, Virginia. Her talk was about the importance of factual news and information in a democracy, and the danger of press censorship. She also delivered a talk on her book The War of Words at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum’s 2024 Roosevelt Reading Festival, and she presented on how the freedoms to read and access information are central to democracy at the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library.
Professor Richard D. Marsico and Assistant Professor Samantha Pownall ’11 presented to administrative law judges from around the country at the 20th National Academy for IDEA Administrative Law Judges and Impartial Hearing Officers. Professor Marsico presented the results of his case study on lower court decision-making in special education cases in "Looking for FAPE in all the Wrong Places: The Ballad of Rowley and Endrew F" and Professor Pownall presented on "Disability and Discipline Under the IDEA."

Emerita John Marshall Harlan II Professor of Law Nadine Strossen served as a Distinguished Visiting Lecturer at The Stephenson Institute for Classical Liberalism at Wabash College in Indiana. She also spoke at the Athena Roundtable 2024 in Washington, D.C., hosted by the American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA), for a panel about “Civil Liberty on Campus”; spoke at a program hosted by the First Amendment Center at the University of Texas Law School on “Scrutinizing Universities’ Responses to the Campus Protests”; spoke at the 2024 National First Amendment Summit, hosted by the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, on “Free Speech In and Out of the Courts”; and spoke at the Voices for Liberty Symposium on Civil Rights and Free Speech, hosted by Scalia Law School. In addition, she delivered the Aiken Presidential Lecture at the University of Vermont as the kick-off keynote event for the 2024-25 Presidential Lecture Series on Free Speech.

Assistant Professor Claire R. Thomas ’11 was a featured speaker in national security and legal issues surrounding refugees, asylum seekers, and people in migration between Mexico and the United States at the Fulbright Association Annual Conference. She also co-presented on "Asylum Adjudication Trends and Tips for Success" at the Practicing Law Institute (PLI)'s 57th Annual Immigration and Naturalization Institute.
Assistant Professor Amy Wallace taught a virtual workshop on experiential learning and public legal education for the LL.M. and clinic students at Christ University School of Law in Delhi, India. She also co-facilitated a daylong Clinical Legal Education Supervision Workshop in Bangkok, Thailand and facilitated a virtual workshop for the Association of Legal Clinics of Ukraine's Street Law Festival.
Distinguished Adjunct Professor Jeffrey M. Wice presented testimony to the U.S. Census Bureau's 2030 Census Advisory Committee on the need to permit non-profit organizations to assist local governments in updating their master address mailing lists before the next decennial census. He was also the featured speaker for 92NY’s Newmark Civic Life Series, speaking on “State of New York – Gerrymandering and Voting Access in New York,” and a panelist at the Annual Summit meeting of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL).
Associate Professor Britney Wilson was the featured speaker for a Syracuse University College of Law's Disability Law and Policy Program event modeled after her Journal of Legal Education essay, “A Body’s Work: On Self and Peer Education as a Black Disabled Lawyer.” She also presented on her forthcoming articles, "Predisposed: Race, Disability, and Death Investigations" and "The Disability History of Brown v. Board of Education," at the Boston University Law Review Symposium.
