As we say good-bye to 2023 and prepare for a new year of wonderful opportunities in 2024, we’re taking a look at some of the top stories that engaged our community this past year. 1. New York Law School Magazine Vol. 40, No. 1: In the latest digital issue of our School’s magazine, we took a deep dive into sports law at NYLS, highlighted our community’s accomplishments from Spring and Summer 2023, turned a spotlight on our faculty’s achievements, and much more.
2. New York Law School Receives $10 Million Gift From Arthur (’59) and Diane Abbey: As lifelong champions of NYLS, Arthur and Diane Abbey made a historic $10 million gift to the School. In honor of their extraordinary legacy of generosity and unprecedented commitment to the School, NYLS’s main academic building has been named “Abbey Hall.”
3. 11 NYLS Alumni Join the New York City Law Department: Continuing NYLS’s proud tradition of public service and civic leadership, 11 members of the Class of 2022 joined the New York City Law Department as Assistant Corporation Counsels.
4. NYLS’s Molly Guptill Manning Receives Wave of Praise for Her New Book The War of Words: Associate Professor Molly Guptill Manning’s new book, The War of Words: How America’s GI Journalists Battled Censorship and Propaganda to Help Win World War II, received a coveted starred review from Publisher’s Weekly, which called her work “an essential contribution to the history of WWII.”
5. NYLS Students Weigh In With Their Advice for 1Ls: We spoke with NYLS 2Ls, 3Ls, and 4L evening students to get their best advice for first-year students, and they offered thoughtful words of encouragement.
