New York Law School congratulates Board of Trustees member Ross F. Moskowitz ’84 as he receives the John E. Higgins, Esq., Diversity Trailblazer Award from the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Recognized for his exceptional efforts toward inclusion in the legal profession, Moskowitz will celebrate his award at a ceremony on January 18, 2023.
“I am extremely proud to see this well-deserved and impressive recognition for Ross,” says Dean and President Anthony W. Crowell. “It’s well in line with his many contributions to our School, and New York Law School remains grateful for his many years of leadership and service in our community and to the legal profession. At a time when all institutions and the profession are taking stock of how to make their policies and practices more fair and equitable, it’s gratifying to know Ross is well ahead of the pack, making a difference and setting an example on what we all should aspire to become.”
Moskowitz is a partner at Stroock, and serves on the firm’s Executive Committee and chairs the firm’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council. He has received the Chambers USA’s Diversity and Inclusion Outstanding Ally Award in recognition of his outstanding commitment to being an ally for marginalized groups.
“As an ally, you need to show up. You need to listen,” Moskowitz says. “And then you need to use the position of an ally and push the action forward.”
Moskowitz puts theory into practice with an active role in Stroock’s pro bono program, including recent work supporting the South Street Seaport Museum in securing funding for its revitalization. He has served on the NYLS Board of Trustees since 2009.
