New York Law School (NYLS) proudly congratulates Vincent Viola ’83, owner of the Florida Panthers, for leading the team to its first-ever Stanley Cup victory. The Panthers’ win marks a monumental milestone in the franchise’s history.
An avid athlete, Viola attended NYLS while working as a local trader and eventual member of the New York Mercantile Exchange. His interest in securities law at NYLS sparked a passion for investing, which led to his founding the high-frequency trading firm Virtu Financial. Viola has owned the Florida Panthers since September 2013.
Reflecting on his time at the Law School, Viola remarked, “I wouldn’t trade my legal education for any other educational experience. You take on a different understanding and you’re better able to think critically.” Learn more about Viola’s experience in the Spring 2014 issue of the NYLS Alumni Magazine, starting on page 2.
NYLS celebrates Viola’s incredible achievement and applauds his outstanding contributions to the world of sports and the community.
