On April 14, NYLS hosted the first event in its series of student-led Law and Leadership Mayoral dialogues. The event featured Eric Adams, Brooklyn Borough President, followed by Kathryn Garcia, who most recently served as Commissioner of the New York City Department of Sanitation. Brian Kaszuba ’04, Associate Director of NYLS’s Center for New York City Law, facilitated the conversation.
The student participants researched the candidates and worked with Dean Anthony W. Crowell to refine their topics and questions. The next forum takes place on April 28. A new group of students and candidates will join Dean Crowell for that event.
Five students—all of them first-year members of the Dean’s Leadership Council—asked questions focused on the topic of leadership and management. Their questions touched on critical challenges for the city’s next Mayor, including combatting misinformation, engaging in police reform, driving operational efficiencies, translating prior leadership experiences into serving as Mayor, and restoring trust in government.
