The Carmen DiPietro Scholarship Fund is the first endowment in NYLS’s 135-year history dedicated to supporting future plaintiffs’ attorneys and prosecutors
New York Law School (NYLS) announces a transformative $1 million gift from trial attorney Anthony T. DiPietro (’98), establishing the Carmen DiPietro Scholarship Fund.
The gift from Mr. Anthony T. DiPietro, a NYLS alumnus and trustee, will support students pursuing careers in plaintiffs’ medical malpractice, plaintiffs’ personal injury, civil rights, criminal prosecution, and appellate advocacy involving civil plaintiffs.
Anthony T. DiPietro graduated from NYLS magna cum laude in 1998, and began his career as a medical malpractice trial attorney before founding The DiPietro Law Firm in 2003. Mr. DiPietro’s work focuses on exposing institutional misconduct while advocating for people harmed by medical negligence, patient safety violations, and institutional cover-ups.
Mr. DiPietro has achieved some of the highest verdicts and settlements in the State of New York over the past several decades, securing more than $2.2 billion in compensation for his clients in cases involving sexual exploitation and abuse, birth injury, medical malpractice, wrongful death, and other catastrophic injuries. In addition to direct litigation, attorney DiPietro has supported and successfully advocated for the passage of four separate laws in New York that provide victims and survivors with a path to justice – including the Adult Survivors Act and the Gender Motivated Violence Act. In recognition of his accomplishments, Mr. DiPietro was elected to New York Law School’s Board of Trustees in 2026.

The Carmen DiPietro Scholarship is named in memory of Anthony T. DiPietro’s mother, Carmen DiPietro, and is the first scholarship in NYLS’s 135-year history that is dedicated specifically to supporting future plaintiffs’ trial attorneys and criminal prosecutors.
About Anthony T. DiPietro ’98
Anthony T. DiPietro began his career as a medical malpractice lawyer at Kramer, Dillof, Livingston & Moore. He holds a J.D. from New York Law School (’98), and B.B.A. from Temple University (’94).
