Community-Building and Highlights From NYLS Pro: Part-Time Evening Division

2026 NYLS Pro graduating class celebration dinner

New York Law School’s (NYLS) Evening Division opened in 1894. Since then, NYLS has been committed to offering working professionals a path to earn a law degree in a part-time format. In 2022, we introduced the redesigned NYLS Pro: Part-Time Evening Division to uphold our long-standing commitment and help modern working professionals achieve their career goals in a more accessible and flexible way.

As we continue to evolve to meet the needs of our evening students, we’re proud to offer students opportunities to foster law school community as they balance work, home, and school. Take a look at a few community events from this academic year.

In October 2025, approximately 100 evening students, their families, and friends, along with Dean Anthony Crowell, Dean for Evening Division Engagement Kirk D. Burkhalter ’04, and other faculty, administrators, and staff, gathered to start a new tradition—Evening Pro Division Family Day. A great time was had by all! Attendees enjoyed food, games, and wonderful weather on the School’s Fifth Floor Rooftop Terrace and Lounge.

In February 2026, evening students enjoyed a pizza night study break where students had an opportunity to relax, eat, and catch up with classmates and mingle with members of the faculty and administration prior to class.

On May 1, 2026, Dean Anthony Crowell and Dean for Evening Division Engagement Kirk Burkhalter hosted a celebration dinner for the NYLS Pro graduating class, offering them the opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments with their classmates, reflect on their time at the law school, and gather as a community before they embark on the next chapter of their professional journey.

Our evening program continues to evolve to meet the needs of New Yorkers looking to advance their careers and pursue their dreams. We’re proud to announce that, beginning in Fall 2026, evening students may choose to take any day class that suits their schedule and professional aspirations, enjoying greater scheduling flexibility.
